Local Adelaide butcher, Ken Fox, made an appeal to the public on Channel Seven’s Sunrise program to Shop Small. Fox, who owns a shop in Dulwich, told Sunrise hosts David Koch (a.k.a. “Kochie”) and Samantha Armytage that it was “tough out there” for small businesses.

In the short interview segment, Fox revealed his strategy to stay competitive, which included the add-value service of offering ready-made cuts for meals such as stir fries, home-cooked classics including stroganoffs, curries, his signature Christmas puddings and an assortment of pies made from Jamie Oliver recipes.

While the butcher used the media opportunity to showcase his business practices, he also made the public aware of the bigger picture.

“We have all these small businesses in Australia,” Fox said. “If we all could afford to employ one more person, there wouldn’t be a lot of people out of work.”
